I’m dsto, and I’m out!

Our short film is finished…..at least in the sense that it is uploaded and available for viewing at http://www.dvxfest.com/questfest . This link takes you to a list of the movies that have been submitted and are available to view and rate. I think ours is #9 on the list. To “vote” for the films, on the right of each movie on the fest list is a row of stars to rate each movie. That is how they are voted for, the average rating of the movie. (ed. note: I just changes this to reflect my ignorance. There was a techninal glitch with my user name, I was not seeeing the rating system on the questfest page therefore not voting correctly. IF you  are member with enough comments to vote and you cannot see the rating stars next to each film where you download and watch them on this page  http://www.dvxfest.com/questfest , then you  need to contact one of the admins for dvxuser.com )

Please remember that this is not necessarily a family friendly site and some of the movies that are in the online movie festival are rated “R”. Stephen and I have each seen bits of movies that are NOT family friendly. There are plenty that are more than ok for anyone to see. I will try to get a list posted of the movies that I have seen that are okay for anyone to see. (So far, I can attest to “Medal Of Honor”, ”Carpe Diem”, “Mahlen” , and “Empire” although “Empire” is a different kind of film, kind of artsy, with a scene that might be strange and disturbing to young ones. And of course “Visionary”, we also have some visions that flash by and might be a bit creepy to little kids, so be aware.)

I am pleased with the movie. There is plenty that I would change, or would have done differently, but this was a worthy learning piece. Go check it out and get on our thread and tell us what you think, and if you are a member that can rate these films, by all means let everyone else know what you think as well, by rating the movies you see. ( By which I mean go rate our movie as you see fit! )

On a technical note. All of the movies need Quicktime to play the films. (or the free open source media player called VLC Player. Google it and you’ll find it easy enough and you can download it. It seems to be a great piece of software that plays a lot of different types of files….and it’s free! Just be sure to get it from the official web site. It is an open source program and if you get it from antoher less reputable site, it may have some nasty suprises, just as with anything on the internets.)

I’m dsto and I’m out!

I’m gonna try something new here. We are all going to write the script for a very short Short Film. I will write the setting (time, place, characters etc..)and the first line. Then someone else writes the second line and then someone else will write the next, etc.etc. until we have an ending. We will then put it on film and broadcast the finished result here at brothersstudios.com. Let’s see what you budding script writers and directors can come up with!

So, here we go. 2 guys are in a coffee house, shooting the breeze. Greg and Buzzsaw. 2 very different guys as evidenced by the names. One is a biker and the other is an accountant. They are discussing the economic crises in our country.

Buzzsaw – scruffy, long haired dude with tattoos and sleeveless flannel shirt.

Greg- clean cut, “preppy” looking guy in a polo.

Buzzsaw: Greg, I just got laid off! And there doesn’t seem to be anyone hiring a guy in my line of work..

Now,someone fill in the next line! Let’s make something special!

Isn’t summer a nice and relaxing time? Over time at work to cover the vacations of your coworkers. Busy schedules at home. A nice summer flu to give you a break from all of the monotony. The brothers have been working on some ideas and one of these days we are going to get to work on them. Bro Stephen has come up with an idea for a slightly more ambitious project starring the Thunder Brothers. ( the name we have christened the dudes from the Ted Nugent commercial ) We got together to talk a few things through but we ended up watching someone else’s videos and just having a good time with our wives and Ethan. Ah well. It was worth it just to hang with my wife, my brother and his family.

We are going to so the 5things shortly and we have decided who the winning contributor is. You will find out the next 5things very,very soon.

And as a side note. Google” Brothers Studios “. We are 3rd or 4th on the list. I don’t know what that means or anything other than I think it is pretty cool. GET OUT OF OUR WAY WARNER BROTHERS!

Well,  either Big Brother D and I are the only ones not out of town this week or nobody else liked that last blog. 

Oh well, I have finished the script for Double Thunder, the mini movie staring your favorite energy drinkin’, mullet rawkin’ bros.  In this movie they rock the kung-fu(sort of), and talk in english dubbed to chinese dubbed back to english with chinese subtitles.  Did you catch all that?  I wrote it and I’m not sure I caught it all.  So as soon as Dsto returns, we can start planning the production process of the movie.  But don’t worry, we will have some preview footage up and running soon.

we have all been so busy with our jobs and family that we have not put up anything new (with the exception of Big Bro D’s cool stop motion animation video Lulu’s Abduction. I imagine that the Alien Abduction story line is in honor of the impending release of the new X-files movie ” I Want To Believe” p.s. I want to see another one that will be even better than your first cool one)

My wife, Luanne, my daughter Krisha, and I shot a quick video the other night. I will edit it this weekend.

I love the editing process. It is fun to me. It can be frustrating, but putting all of those pieces of footage together into a linear, coherent story is cool. There is a sense of control that is interesting. That is where the vision you have in your head comes all together. We are only goofy amature movie makers (and believe me, I use the term movie maker very very loosely!), but I cannot imagine a real director on a real movie  ever not wanting to edit his own movies, or at the very least be sitting in on the process dictating what is happening every step of the way.( maybe every director does this, I am not a Hollywood insider) Imagine having the pressure of millions of millions dollars ( how long before the first billiondollar movie?!) invested in a movie that you are in charge of, only to have it come out very different than you envisioned because of someone else’s editing,because they have a different opinion of the way things should be?

But I digress, A new movie will be posted asap. It is called “It’s Not The End Of The World, It Just Looks Like It From Here.”

Yeah, long title, but I do not want it to give anything away about the movie, but still convey that brothersstudios.com sense of hopelessness  hilarity!

What did everyone think of the TomTom video? I want to know if we are on the right track here. I realize we have a lot of work to do in this fickle, entertain me now, I want to see something funny or else ,internet A.D.D. society so…

Let us down gently, but give us some honest feeback so we can make you laugh. Do you want to see more romance? ( kind of a disturbing thought….) Do want more action? Do you want more slapstick? How about more knock knock jokes?

Give us a minute of your time and tell us what is right, AND what is wrong with our videos.

Brother Steve is going on vacation soon. I hope he brings me back something nice has fun. He is taking his wife and little boy to the beach. (lucky dog!)  Have a great time! We’ll hold down the fort for you!
