Change

Feb 24, 2012 in Uncategorized

Life moves. Things change. It’s how we roll with those changes that defines who we really are.

I have a major life change in the very immediate future. I am a bit freaked out at the moment. But I am also very excited. No matter what happens, some of these changes are going to be “bad”. Some of them are going to be absolutely amazing. I have some important choices to make. Things will never be the same, but I fully expect them to be exciting, challenging, and rewarding. I will not sit idly by, I will face these challenges head on and be a better man for it.

The Ultimate Seal of Approval

Feb 15, 2012 in Uncategorized

“.. it had neat twists and turns and the “memory stealing” added a dimension to the storyline that I found very interesting and exciting. I had only planned to read half of the draft and rest up some before I read the rest but once I got into it I couldn’t stop….the climax built until I was so anxious to find out how it was going the end..“-Mom

2012, HERE I COME!

Dec 13, 2011 in Uncategorized

Well, 2011 is quickly drawing to a close. I do not have much to show for this year in the film department.

There is this.

And this.

YouTube Preview Image

Suffice it to say, not alot done on my part. Well, all of that is going to change this coming year. I guarantee it.

I am even considering Kickstarter. Raise some capital for a proper project.

My feature length screenplay, Sifter,  is almost complete. I will shoot that around to see if there are any takers.( it is Girl With The Dragon Tatoo meets Medium)

So keep an eye for BrothersStudios in 2012.

VF Slate App for the IPad- Free Film and Audio Sync!

Nov 17, 2011 in Uncategorized

During the shoot for “Mr. Excitable” we used the View Factor Marker Slate app (free!) for the iPad. Available here
Very basic functions ( does not sync time code for instance ) but it worked great! Great visual and audio cues to sync video and audio in post. Critical for DSLR shooters!
View Factor has a whole line of non virtual products available at http://www.viewfactor.net/
View Factor specializes in camera support products for the cinema and television industries, specifically concentrating on motion, camera and lens control systems.
They also have DSLR support cages

and their motorized follow Focus systems
look particularly interesting. They are a bit out of my price range..but check em out!

An Evening With The Lumix GH-1

Mar 24, 2011 in Uncategorized

Just a very quick snippet of out first night out with the GH-1. No color correction. Shot using a Minolta MD 50mm f 1.7

GH-1nce again

Mar 18, 2011 in Uncategorized

We purchased a Micro 4/3′s to Minolta MD adapter on Ebay (the same day the camera was ordered actually) and it finally arrived to our post on Tuesday. It is a solid buy. It is a perfect fit on the camera, a smidge snug on the lens side, but  not scary snug if you get my drift.

Yup…bought it from a Chinese outfit…it was dirt cheap and the shipping was cheap too. I would rather spend my money in an American store, but we are talking $40-$50 difference. They took a while to get the thing out the door but once it shipped, it got here rather quickly from the Peoples Republic.

We took it out for a spin(for a very short time due to rain) and it works. The images form the MD lenses are great. Focusing is a snap. I will get one of the few shots I was able to get online soon.

I will not post the name of the Ebay store we purchased from. I am not going to give out free publicity, but if anyone is dying to know, send us an email and I will give you the details.

The Panasonic Lumix GH-1K

Feb 24, 2011 in Uncategorized

Okay, so I am a little behind on the whole DSLR bandwagon…but I am a cheapskate frugal. My wife really needed a great quality camera to take pictures of her product (luleeslollies.com), so I decided to get something we could both use. I am a big fan of Panasonic cameras so I chose this for me my wife.

Even with the inherent limitations of using a DSLR for filming, this thing puts out some great images. The Lumix GH-1K should be on our proverbial doorstep tomorrow!

American Idol #6..L.A.

Feb 06, 2011 in Uncategorized

I rarely, if never post about pop culture crap…but my family started watching American Idol for the first time. I mean we would catch an episode here and there, but we never intentionally set out the watch it from the first to last episode.

Anyway, we watched the 6th show last night. Auditions in L.A. The only thing I have to say about it…I am flabbergasted at the lack of talent that showed up in Los Angeles, so near the entertainment capitol of the world. It makes wonder just how many delusional people flock to L.A. every year to “make it big”. That’s all.

I’m dsto and I’m out!

Ed. Note: You know I’ve been thinking about this and  really hate the name American “Idol“……It really says something about us…I think God put the smack down on a few idolaters….
